Away From Instagram - 'A Way From Instagram'
The Medical Opinion & Education Foundation aims to not only enhance the health of patients and educate medical professionals in underserved areas but also to positively influence the lives of youth in society. We seek to promote mental well-being and foster genuine connections among young people, utilizing social media as a tool for positive change and fundraising.
‘Away from Instagram’ to “A Way From Instagram” is an initiative spearheaded and managed by the brightest minds of our society—our tech-savvy, socially aware, intelligent, and compassionate youth.
The Youth Board will collaborate closely with our Advisory Board members, gaining invaluable experience and insights throughout the process.
Key Objectives:
- Encourage Offline Engagement: Organize events and activities that foster in-person connections among youth.
- Raise Awareness: Use social media strategically to highlight important social issues without overwhelming youth with constant online presence.
- Fundraising Initiatives: Create campaigns that raise funds for mental health resources, community projects specifically designed for youth in under-serve regions of the world.
Strategies:
-
Event-Based Fundraising:
- Host workshops, sports tournaments, or art showcases that require minimal online promotion but encourage community involvement.
- Encourage participants to share their experiences online after the event, using a specific hashtag to track impact.
-
Social Media as a Platform for Awareness:
- Create an Instagram account solely for sharing stories and testimonials from those impacted by the nonprofit’s work, showcasing real-life benefits.
- Use infographics and short videos to share mental health tips and resources, posted occasionally to keep engagement focused but not overwhelming.
-
Partnerships with Local Businesses:
- Collaborate with local businesses for fundraising events (e.g., percentage of sales days) and promote these through social media.
- Highlight businesses that support mental health initiatives and community engagement.
-
Creative Campaigns:
- Launch campaigns that encourage youth to share their offline experiences (e.g., nature walks, volunteer work) without the pressure of regular social media posting.
- Create a monthly challenge that encourages youth to unplug for a day and engage in community service, sharing their stories afterward.
-
Resource Hub:
- Develop a website or newsletter to provide resources for mental health, community events, and ways to get involved, minimizing reliance on social media.
-
Youth Leadership Development:
- Encourage youth to take on leadership roles within the organization, developing skills in event planning, fundraising, and community engagement without the need for constant online presence.
Impact Measurement:
- Use surveys and feedback forms to gauge the impact of events and initiatives on participants’ mental well-being and community involvement.
- Track fundraising progress and how funds are used, sharing this transparently on social media to maintain accountability.
